Stormy Seas

This painting was inspired by the storms of the end of October and early November that sent powerful waves and moody skies across the canvas of Seven Mile Beach in the Cayman Islands.

November is a transformative month in the Caribbean: Start with storms, rain and dramatic seas; ends with soft fresh breezes and dappled sunshine.

I personally enjoy both, the contrast is what keeps island life interesting. The powerful seas in the video (shared with you) become a work of art in themselves when edited to slow down, and capture the magnificence of each wave. They inspired me to do the dramatic wave painting, “Stormy Seas” to remind us that Caribbean living isn’t all turquoise seas and sunsets. A little bit like life itself.

November marks the last month of the official hurricane season, with June hailing the start. We don’t welcome hurricane season, but the silver lining is the stunning sights like this one.
