“On Your Marks” , the name of this painting, refers to the words commonly used at the start of a race. The new year is often seen as the beginning of a new cycle. The painting, at first glance is tangibly an image of the sunrise in the Cayman Islands, but with a closer look is actually a collection of abstract marks. Abstraction comes together to form the impression of realism: resulting in an expressionist seascape.
