D and I often take our paddleboards out. It gets a little extra exercise into our days. Since Covid we have had a lot more extra time to dedicate to health and fitness. Of course, this extra time also contributes to the additional home baked cookies and fresh bread to counterbalance any fitness we may have achieved. I figure, good food equals good mood, so we must be on the right track to health and happiness, … mustn’t we?
Where we live, the water is very calm, and so paddle boarding is easy. It is also good for the core, so D tells me. As a sport, it also claims to help with balance, reduce stress and offer the optimal environment for meditation. Now that’s where I can get excited, 20 minutes of physical exercise followed by 20 minutes lying silently supine, being at one with the world. I’ve been fairly disciplined with daily mediation lately. It helps squash the anxiety whilst the world around us remains in turmoil.
Meditation isn’t for everyone, I get it. But paddling? Paddling is so relaxed and meditative in itself, everyone can do it. Just looking out to sea today is proof that it works. Sunday vibes are in full flow, and everyone seems to be out in the bay with a paddle board today. This might just be the answer to getting us through this crazy time of Covid…
