Hanging with some of Cayman’s finest artists – Carlos Garcia, Henry Hoy, Charles Long, Jason Kennedy, Janine Every, Ceratan K, Josie Frazer, Iain McCrae, and many more – at Mykonos for a Cayman’s ARK fundraiser was certainly a highlight of June. There was an abundance of talent present, and plenty of fine art up for auction.
I’m happy to announce that my piece, “Beautiful Barker’s Beach,” was featured in the art auction for Cayman ARK fundraiser, “Champions of Kindness.” The event was dedicated to supporting ARK’s essential community initiatives.
Professionally framed, “Beautiful Barker’s Beach” is an ironically named, and a thought-provoking 48”x72” artwork, crafted using acrylics, ocean waste, seawater, and sand from Barker’s Beach. This artwork elegantly layers materials to subtly mask — but not remove — the underlying problems of plastic pollution, presenting a visual paradox that reflects the beauty of the Cayman Islands against the ongoing environmental issues.
This piece, amongst many other amazing artworks, was successfully bid upon during the auction, and helped raise money for the great cause.
It felt good to make a difference together. The support from the guests who attended not only celebrated art, but also continues to drive crucial environmental action and community aid. It was my honour to be amongst so many champions of kindness and change! 💥✨💪
