Aqua: Where Art Meets the Ocean

When asked to bring colour to Aqua’s oceanfront lobby, I wanted the space to feel like the sea had quietly moved in. The result: a collection that connects horizon, light, and life by the beach.

I am honoured and thrilled to share a recent commission for the lobby of Aqua, a stunning low-density residence on Seven Mile Beach. Working with James Lagan, the visionary behind this architectural gem, was a true privilege. James is deeply attuned to good design and already curates a discerning art collection. His portfolio of luxury developments across Grand Cayman speaks to a consistent commitment to elegance, innovation, and lasting quality.

Aqua exudes style and quiet confidence. Behind its effortless luxury, you sense the hours of dedication poured into ensuring every detail aligns with the epitome of contemporary Caribbean living. The lobby itself is vast, spacious, and purest white, an expanse waiting to be transformed. My role was to bring life and a sense of the coast to that blank canvas.

I chose to work with paired artworks, as I’ve always felt that grouping pieces allows a broader story to unfold across the wall, one that moves, connects, and invites a slower gaze.

The process was collaborative and joyful. We began by exploring James’s favourite works from my portfolio. After much deliberation, those initial choices found their home not in the lobby, but in James’s own private apartment, a flattering detour that sent us back to the drawing board. From there, we selected four new pieces, creating AI visual mockups to envision how they would live in situ. Once approved, I ordered high-resolution giclée prints, shipped from Miami, then stretched and framed in Cayman.

Seeing the finished works installed at Aqua was a proud moment. Each piece now greets residents and guests with a splash of coastal vibrancy, a whisper of horizon, and a reminder of Cayman’s natural rhythm.

To be part of this beautiful project by the sea is an honour.

Each commission begins with a conversation, a sense of place, and the story the space wants to tell. To view available works or enquire about future projects, visit Paintings.
